Receiptrocity: Chicago Bears Prank Rookies With a $38K Mastro's Check

Welcome to Receiptrocity, bringing you the strangest and most entertaining receipts America's restaurants have to offer. If you've got an interesting, notable or funny receipt, scan/photograph it and send it over to national@eater.com.

mastros-bears-receipt.jpgWhat's a fun prank to play when you're a millionaire professional football player? Oh, just hazing the new players with an outrageous dinner receipt that presumably they would have to pay. According to Chicagoist, last night Chicago Bears defensive lineman Israel Idonije tweeted a receipt for $38,091.91 from Mastro's Steakhouse, with most of the damage done by three orders of a "Bears dinner" for $9,999 apiece.

But apparently a "Bears dinner" is not a real thing you can order at Mastro's. Idonije explained this morning that the receipt was just a prank on two of the newest team members — and the restaurant was in on it, tweeting "glad we could help play a joke on the rookies!" Chicagoist points out that even subtracting the fake line item, the bill still was at least $4,000.
